As important as our support of veterans and their dependants is to Legion, Ontario Command and its branch members find the time and energy to make significant contributions to our communities.

Branches support other community based organizations financially, using funds raised through clubhouse operations, bingos, raffles and break open tickets. Each year, hundreds of thousands of dollars are donated by branches in Ontario to other community and service organizations. As well as financial support, in many communities, the Legion hall is the main meeting place and venue for other community based organizations. Most branches provide this service free of charge.

As well as support for others, Legion branches operate, or help to organize and operate many community programs. These include public safety programs, programs for seniors, meals on wheels, sport and youth programs.

Sunday Aug 30th - Support the Troops Rally - 1:00 p.m for the Cpl Albert Storm Playground in Crystal Beach in honour of Cpl Albert Storm, Cpl Tyler CVrooks, and WO Brown. Everyone is encouraged to attend and show their support by wearing RED Shirts, and hopefully buying and wearing a yellow ribbon for a 2.00 donation. There will be a paradae, rally, food, music, and loads of fun.

1 pm - 2:45 pm: Meet & Greet, pig roast, BBQ, entertainment
2:45 pm - 3:00 pm: March to the Cenotaph for dignitary sppeches and rally.
3:30 pm - 3:45 pm: Returen to the legion
3:45 pm - 6:00 pm: enjoy refreshments, food, music etc at the legion.
It is expected that members of the Royal Canadian Regiment and the Lincoln and Welland Regiment recently returned from Afghanistan will be in attendance along with members of the RCR Association, the PPCLI Association and the Korea Veterans Association.

Hopefully it will be a successful rally and fundraiser for a worthy cause!

- Thursday Sept 24th - Seniors Drop-in centre - Noon - 2 pm
- Friday Sept 25th - Fish fry as usual - Snacks in Bar - 4 pm - 6:30 pm
- Saturday Sept 26th - Hot dogs and Hamburgers, 3 pm - 5 pm evening entertainment 7 pm - 10 pm.

Sunday October 18th - Honours and Awards Letters will be going out to awards recipients, starts at 2 pm

Friday october 30th - Start of "Poppy Campaign"
